I met this guy at my boys’ soccer game yesterday in this clean ‘70 Challenger. The wild part? It’s a Slant Six with drums all around. Original CT car - the only option was the console automatic. I never knew the E-bodies had anything smaller than the 318?

Soccer, eh?

The plan is going better than expected. Just need to slip Handegg into the vocabulary and Operation “Who are ya” is a go.

Straight 6s were available in just about all Mopar. I think there were even 2 available in the E bodies. That Chally is a beaut!

There were less than 4,000 /6 Convertibles built in 1970.

That’s a nice find!

I can’t believe the modern Challenger is still not available as a convertible.

The owner told me it’s a Volvo color. He had the car resprayed a few years ago. In person it’s a striking copper color.

Right? I’d rather have one of those than a Mustang or Camaro vert.

He told me it was one of about 100. #confused

Sure, I’ve seen the slant six in pretty much everything else, but never anything sporty like the Challenger or Cuda. I thought the “fun cars” had at least a 318. #themoreyouknow

It doesn’t make much sense to have one without a V8, much less a hemi, but the option was there. But it was a cheaper way to get into a cool car, not unlike a 4 cylinder fox body or V6 f body.

Or a 4 cyl F-body (yep, in 83-83 the 2.5 was available. Bleccch.) I kinda dig the weird factor of his I6 Challenger. I suggested a restomod for a winter project, but the cost of the V8/trans/axle was too steep. I wonder if anyone makes pistons/cams for the slant 6?
